High School Bukit Mertajam is one of the oldest schools in Malaysia. First opened on 18th January 1927 to some 300 students, the school has thrived to produce many high achievers and notable national figures including our beloved Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Abdullah b. Hj. Ahmad Badawi.
We're particularly honoured to have in our midst our most distinguished alumnus, YABhgTun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, former Prime Minister of Malaysia, who inspite of his busy schedule has found time to be our Patron. We deeply appreciate this gesture, which will serve as an additional inducement and impetus to us do to more for the School in the future.

The persons next in importance to parents are Teachers and they have a great deal to do with moulding a child's most impressionable and formative years.
Our Alma Mater has done a tremendous job in this regard. It has served the Country and the Community well and continues to do so.
The least we as Alumni can do generally, is to show our affection and appreciation to the School for all that it has done for us and all that it stands for.
