High School Bukit Mertajam is one of the oldest schools in
Malaysia. First opened on 18th January 1927 to some 300 students, the school
has thrived to produce many high achievers and notable national figures
including our beloved Prime Minister, YAB Datuk Seri Abdullah b. Hj. Ahmad
Badawi.
We're particularly honoured to have in our midst our most
distinguished alumnus, YABhgTun Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, former Prime
Minister of Malaysia, who inspite of his busy schedule has found time to be
our Patron. We deeply appreciate this gesture, which will serve as an
additional inducement and impetus to us do to more for the School in the
future.

They say Diamonds are forever. Likewise the school is also
forever. It is very much part of you and you are very much part of the
school. The persons next in importance to parents are Teachers and they have
a great deal to do with moulding a child's most impressionable and formative
years.
